Yin yoga & intuition
Most of the time, the mind tells the body what to do. In yin yoga, the mind observes and deeply listens to the body, which is constantly sending you messages. As the mind learns the language of the body, this builds trust between the body and mind.
Think about a time when you were talking with someone and you were vibing and you gave them your full attention because you found them so interesting. And then think about a time when someone gave you their full attention and you felt seen and heard and held, maybe you even opened up to them a little more. In yin yoga, if you lavish this kind of attention on your body, the body feels seen and heard and held, which allows the body to soften. Held by the mind’s attention, the body finds trust in the mind, and as the body softens and opens, the mind feels more and more comfortable and at home in the body.
This softening also deepens your sensitivity to prana (vital life force energy). Another way to think of pranic sensitivity is as intuition. So not only does yin yoga prepare you beautifully for more subtle practices like yoga nidra and meditation, it also expands your capacity to listen to (or see, or feel) your intuition and to trust it.
